The survey covered 36 patients with the confirmed history of rheumatoid arthritis for 5-10 years and longer. All patients underwent a comprehensive liver function study that included clinical and laboratory examination of the patients to assess the activity of the main biochemical syndromes: cytolysis (alanine and asparagine transaminases, lactate dehydrogenase), cholestasis (general, direct, indirect bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase). All patients underwent an ultrasound examination to study the liver pattern. The ultrasound examination revealed the following changes in the liver: heterogeneous structure, densification and enlargement of the size (55 %), expansion of the diameter of the intrahepatic vessels of medium and small caliber (22 %), multiple small foci of compaction (30 %). The analysis of the data showed that, in addition to the clinical manifestations of the disease itself, there are functional changes in the liver, which depend on the clinical form and activity of the process
